Open Question: I really need help to get through my parent’s divorce… any advice for me? (Im 13) thanks?
Well..It wasn’t really a surprise to me when my parents told me they were getting a divorce. I guess I kinda expected it, but I wasn’t really prepared to handle the truth. Recently, (within the last year), I’ve learned of their divorce plans, and I cried for a few months, I guess you could even say I was in a state of minor depression, which didn’t last. I’m still recovering, but just the thought makes me sad. I’m only 13, and for this news to just be dumped on me is really painful. Especially since I really don’t have anybody to talk to.. Here is my story: It started a while back apparently, maybe some 7 years ago, but i just started noticing signs when mom first explored the internet. She came upon Facebook (which was new at the time). So, she made an account and got addicted to online poker and mafia wars. Through poker and mafia wars, she met a man who lived in Belgium, a short man with a body full of tattoos and piercings, who claimed his tattoos and piercings represented his religion. SO anyways, did I mention my mom HATES tattoos and piercings, or she did at the time. So they became friends online, they talked, they chatted, and sent secret messages to eachother. That’s when I suspected they might be distant lovers, even though my parents are still married. So my mom told me they were just friends, but I didnt believe her, not to mention she made 4 trips to Belgium to see him within the last year, practically wiping out most of my family’s spending money in this economy. So now my mom is looking for jobs and apartments in Belgium to live with this guy, and my poor dad is left in the dust, he is kinda shy, and until this new man came into my mom’s life, it was obvious he still had some feelings for her. Now, my mom treats me, my two younger brothers, and my dad with the most rude behavior and no respect. She no longer has tolerance for us, because she spends every waking minute of every day 24/7 at her computer talking to this guy. She even stopped making dinner for us, and she is pretty mean. I’m scared for the future, I do not like her boy friend, and I still love my parents, but am unsure. I really Really need help and advice and support to get through this, I know there are other children suffering from the same matter, and I hope we can all get through this. Please help me, and thank you.
